Core group member Ole Fogh Kirkeby's upcoming book investigates the role of individual altruism and generosity in collective welfare and the future of society.

"We stand at a historical crossroad. One path leads to egocentrism and reclusion. The other to care and nurture. We can't have both. Without generosity we will get a bleak society and a miserable world, but every single human being can change this development if they will so. Therefore the book explores the character and conditions of goodness, and uses this as a starting point for examining the concept of welfare."

What role does generosity play in the long term? Is it something we can afford, or maybe something we can't even be without?
